Tracing the lines
that meet to form sixsouth would be a history lesson in York,
Pennsylvania hardcore/punk. Members from the now defunct '90's
bands: the Armed Citizens, GFNC, and Tap and Die, converge
to blend their tastes and talents to create an original sound
that has yet to be properly placed or described by comparison.
Those who try only become frustrated when the music goes from
zero to one hundred in a matter of one measure, or the desperation
of the vocals turns to anger in one word. You may wonder how
music described as such could possess any kind of appeal.
There is only one way to find out. Listen! After a '99 CD
EP release on their own label, Second Amendment (IIAM) Records,
sixsouth was crippled by the loss of their drummer. But soon
after, fresh meat arrived in the form of Shawn, a.k.a. Wacker,
and with him, he brought a new attitude. Balancing their time
between learning their songs all over again, writing new material,
and playing out, sixsouth managed to tour the Northeast in
the summer of 2000 and the Southeast a year later. From this
era, ten songs were born. These new songs will make up "A
Hole Where the Heart Once Beat," a full length CD available
on Scooch Pooch Records late this year. It took years for
these small town PA boys to attract a label, but it was worth
the wait. Now with the proper vehicle in Scooch Pooch and
the right attitude, sixsouth will shatter the molds of hardcore/punk.
sixsouth is: Josh-bass, Shawm-drums, Brett-guitar, Mark-guitar,
and Shannon-vocals. Check out there 8 song EP, "Playing for
Pennies, Paying Our Dues," available on IIAM Records. (e-mail:
